Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups (spooned and leveled) all-purpose flour
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. Kosher salt
  • 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 large egg yolk

Directions

    1. Step 1Stir together flour, sugar, and salt in a bowl. Cut butter into flour mixture with two forks or a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal.
    2. Step 2Whisk together milk and egg yolk in a separate bowl. Add milk mixture to flour mixture and stir with a fork until crumbly. Sprinkle dough over desired filing or knead until dough comes together, 3 to 4 times; pat to 1/2-inch thick and cut into rounds or squares and place on desired filling.
