Trying to get RHS Chelsea Flower Show tickets has become something of a national sport, with the most popular days selling out almost instantly.
But if you missed out this year, there’s no need to give up on flower-show season altogether.
In fact, 2026 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting years for British gardening events in decades, with spectacular country-estate settings, two major new RHS launches and plenty of opportunities to enjoy world-class planting without the crush of the Chelsea crowds.
Whether you’re after grand stately homes, specialist plant shopping or simply a glorious summer day surrounded by flowers, these are the flower shows worth booking instead.
Royal Windsor Flower Show
6 June 2026
Set within Windsor Great Park beneath ancient trees and sweeping parkland, Royal Windsor Flower Show offers a gentler-paced alternative to Chelsea.
Smaller than the major RHS events, it’s known for its floral marquees, specialist growers and beautifully planted displays, all set against the backdrop of historic royal parkland. Browse artisan garden stalls, hear talks from horticultural experts and spend the day wandering through one of the country’s most picturesque settings.
Blenheim Palace Flower Show, Oxfordshire
19–21 June
Few flower-show settings can rival Blenheim Palace for sheer grandeur. Held within the grounds of the UNESCO-listed palace — birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill — the event combines floral inspiration with one of Britain’s most spectacular country-house backdrops. Formal avenues, lakeside walks and Capability Brown landscaping create a dramatic setting for planting displays and outdoor-living ideas.
Alongside show gardens, visitors can expect artisan shopping, food stalls and demonstrations focused on garden design and entertaining. Leave plenty of time simply to explore the grounds.
RHS Badminton Flower Show, Gloucestershire
8–12 July 2026
The biggest new launch on the gardening calendar for 2026, RHS Badminton Flower Show will take place within the grounds of Badminton Estate — the historic seat of the Duke of Beaufort.
Arriving as RHS Hampton Court pauses for the year, the event is already expected to become one of the summer’s standout attractions. Unlike Chelsea’s tightly packed avenues, Badminton promises a more spacious countryside atmosphere, with visitors able to explore parkland, formal gardens and the grounds surrounding the spectacular 17th-century house.
The estate has a long horticultural history, with gardens shaped over generations and areas designed by celebrated landscape architects Russell Page and François Goffinet. Expect large-scale show gardens, floral marquees, specialist growers and artisan shopping, alongside displays celebrating local crafts and rural traditions.
RHS Sandringham Flower Show, Norfolk
22–26 July 2026
Another major RHS debut for 2026, Sandringham Flower Show combines floral inspiration with the chance to visit one of Britain’s most famous royal estates.
Set within the grounds of Sandringham House, the Royal Family’s Norfolk retreat, the show is expected to feature broad planting avenues, woodland gardens and open parkland alongside show gardens and floral marquees.
The King is said to be closely involved in the event and is reportedly collaborating on one of the headline gardens alongside designer Catherine MacDonald. Visitors can also expect specialist growers, shopping pavilions, artisan food halls and outdoor dining areas spread across the estate grounds — making it easy to turn into a full summer day out.
Rutland Flower Show
14–16 August, Rutland Showground
One of the newest additions to the UK flower-show calendar, Rutland Flower Show quickly developed a strong following after its successful debut.
The event combines specialist plant nurseries with gardening talks, floral art, live music and family activities, giving it a noticeably more laid-back feel than some of the larger RHS shows.
There is also a strong focus on “grow your own” gardening, with experts offering advice on composting, vegetables, soil health and seasonal planting. Expect plenty of practical inspiration, as well as the chance to properly chat to growers and exhibitors.
Southport Flower Show, Merseyside
20–23 August 2026
If you prefer your flower shows lively rather than formal, Southport is hard to beat.
The UK’s largest independent flower show combines traditional garden displays with celebrity chefs, live entertainment, shopping and family attractions, making it one of the broadest summer gardening events in the country.
Alongside show gardens and planting displays, visitors can explore food halls, retail areas and live demonstration stages throughout the showground. Its late-August timing also gives it a very different seasonal feel from the earlier summer flower shows.
