Temperatures across the UK are soaring and it seems we’re all prepping our homes and gardens both to take full advantage of the sun, and to help keep cool in the heat. John Lewis & Partners has revealed its hot weather essentials are flying off the shelves.

Everyone’s got the memo about the importance of drinking plenty of fluids, with an extra 20% of us investing in a metal water bottle to keep us refreshed in this heatwave.

The retailer told Good Housekeeping that its S’well crystal-effect bottle has been a bestseller. The style is exclusive to John Lewis & Partners, and like all S’well’s bottles, will keep your drink cold for up to 24 hours (or hot for 12).

Shoppers are keen on reusable ice cubes too – handy for preventing your Pimms from becoming too diluted – as these too have seen a cool 40% rise in sales.

Unsurprisingly, we’re making the most of our gardens for socialising, as the number of barbecues and related accessories purchased has increased by a third this year, while deckchair sales have seen a 33% rise this week alone and paddling pool numbers are up 42%.
