Reminiscent of a grilled cheese, a panini is filled with combos of meat, cheese, and vegetables. The snack is pressed and grilled, either with a cast-iron weight in a grill pan or with a panini maker, yielding a dense texture and a savory flavor.

Ingredients
- 8 slices rye bread
- 4 tsp. sharp, hot mustard
- 1/2 small head radicchio, thinly sliced
- 1/2 Tbsp. balsamic vinegar
- 1/4 lb. hard salami, thinly sliced
- 1/2 lb. Jarlsberg cheese, thinly sliced
- 4 tsp. butter, melted
Directions
- Step 1Spread 4 slices of bread with mustard.
- Step 2Toss the radicchio with the vinegar, place on top of the mustard-spread slices of bread. Layer each sandwich with 3 slices of salami and 3 slices of cheese. Top with the remaining bread. Brush both sides of the sandwich with butter. Grill in a panini press until cheese is melted, about 4 minutes. Serve immediately.
