A fun and flavorful tip: brush the tops of the buns with sesame oil and sprinkle with sesame seeds before layering up all the veggies.

Another beefless burger option you don’t want to sleep on: pork burgers. And these are extra delicious because chopped bacon is mixed in with the ground pork before grilling. Top ‘em with cheese, green chiles, and cilantro for a tasty burger you’ll want to make again and again all summer long.

Another option for your meatless friends is this Greek-inspired eggplant burger. Before you grill your meat-based burgers, grill sliced eggplants rounds and the red pepper. Once they’ve got a nice char and those beautiful grill lines, layer them up on some buns with a quick, homemade feta-yogurt sauce and lemony ribbons of cucumber. These vegetarian sandwiches are just as delicious as any with meat and have a burst of flavor in every bite.

Debra McClinton

If you want to try a really fun new burger for your Fourth of July get-together this year, how about stuffing the bacon and cheese inside the patty? Surprise! Melty, cheesy deliciousness. These burgers are easier to make than you’d think, too. Form beef into eight equal patties, then make a little mound of cheese and bacon on top. Top with a second patty and pinch to seal the edges. The burgers are covered in an easy spice rub for extra flavor, too. You just can’t go wrong adding cheese and bacon to a burger.
