Meet the Cast of Virgin River
Recognize the stars of Virgin River? Here's where you've seen them before.
Virgin River premiered on Netflix in December 2019, and viewers fell in love with the residents of the fictional northern California town. The Netflix original show, based on a series of 22 novels by Robyn Carr, follows nurse/midwife Mel Monroe's move from the big city of L.A. to tiny Virgin River in search of a serious change of pace. She finds that and much more when she meets local doctor (and her new boss) Doc Mullins, mayor Hope McCrae, local bar owner Jack Sheridan, and the rest of her new neighbors. The cliffhanger ending left fans wanting more (don't worry! season 2 of Virgin River is here, and we're eagerly awaiting information about season 3!). While you're wondering about what will happen between Mel and Jack, where Doc and Hope go from here, or if we'll ever learn the truth about Paige's mysterious past, read on to learn more about the cast of characters. Alexandra Breckenridge as Mel Monroe
Breckenridge portrays nurse Mel, who moves to Virgin River in search of a fresh start and gets so much more than she bargained for. Fans of This Is Us will recognize her as Sophie. Other acting credits include The Walking Dead, American Horror Story, Lifetime's Christmas Around the Corner, and Hallmark Channel's Love in Store.
Martin Henderson as Jack Sheridan

New Zealander Henderson stars as Marine-turned-bar owner Jack Sheridan who battles PTSD while trying to win Mel's heart. Things get complicated when he finds out his ex-girlfriend Charmaine is pregnant. Before his Virgin River days, Henderson appeared on Grey's Anatomy as Dr. Nathan Riggs. Eagle-eyed Britney Spears fans might even recognize him from the video for her 2004 hit "Toxic."
Colin Lawrence as John "Preacher" Middleton

Lawrence plays Preacher, Jack's Marine buddy and chef at Jack's Bar who starts to uncover the mystery of Paige's secret past. His long list of acting credits includes Battlestar Galactica, Riverdale, and the Fixer Upper Mysteries series on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
Benjamin Hollingsworth as Dan Brady
Brady stirs up a lot of trouble in Virgin River, despite Jack's best efforts to keep him on track. You might recognize Hollingsworth from CBS drama Code Black and Hallmark Channel movies Love Under the Olive Tree and A Godwink Christmas: Meant for Love.
Annette O'Toole as Hope McCrae
Before her turn as meddling mayor Hope, O'Toole acted in blockbusters like Superman 3 and Stephen King's It and had roles on Smallville and Nash Bridges. As a child she appeared on My Three Sons, Gunsmoke, and The Partridge Family.
Tim Matheson as Doc Mullins
He's surly Doc Mullins on Virgin River, but Matheson is best known for his role in National Lampoon's Animal House and his Emmy-nominated stint as Vice President John Hoynes on The West Wing. More recently he starred opposite Rachel Bilson on Hart of Dixie.
Lauren Hammersley as Charmaine Roberts
Hammersley stirs up drama when she comes on the scene as Jack's girlfriend and later disrupts Mel and Jack's burgeoning relationship by announcing that she's pregnant. The actress has previously appeared on Orphan Black and Mr. D.
Lexa Doig as Paige Lassiter
Before her role as mysterious baker Paige, Doig starred on The Arrangement, Arrow, and the Aurora Teagarden Mysteries series on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
Jenny Cooper as Joey Barnes
As protective older sister Joey, Cooper tries to keep Mel's best interests at heart while navigating her own marital struggles. She can also be seen on TV shows like Open Heart and 24.
Lynda Boyd as Lilly
Boyd's storyline as Lilly takes a shocking turn when Mel discovers that the abandoned baby belongs to her. The actress's acting credits include Those Damn Canadians, Tin Star, and When Calls the Heart.
Daniel Gillies as Mark
Gillies appears in flashbacks as Mel's husband, Mark. He has recently starred on The Originals, Saving Hope, and The Vampire Diaries.
Grayson Maxwell Gurnsey as Ricky
Gurnesy plays Ricky, who looks up to Jack and works alongside him in his bar and fixing up Mel's cabin. He has also appeared in The Art of Racing in the Rain and alongside Lori Loughlin in Garage Sale Mystery: The Beach Murder on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
