In the world of cocktails, the dirty martini has the unique distinction of being simultaneously trendy and classic. Our take on this traditional boozy drink jumps on that trend and gives it an autumnal twist, with briny and earthy pickled okra juice taking the place of the typical olive.
As okra is coming into peak season, now is the perfect time to infuse the tart, vegetal, and often spicy goodness of pickled okra into the austere simplicity of a martini. And, while we always recommend pickling fresh okra from the garden yourself, store-bought pickled okra works great in this recipe, too!

Ingredients
- 2 1/2 oz. gin or vodka
- 1/2 oz. dry vermouth
- 1/2 oz. pickled okra brine
- Whole pickled okra, for garnish
Directions
- Step 1Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass.
- Step 2Fill mixing glass with ice, and stir until well-chilled, 25-30 seconds.
- Step 3Strain into a chilled coupe, and garnish with a pickled okra.
