How to Make a Waldorf Star in 6 Simple Steps

If you like folding precise lines, this is the craft for you! These paper stars are displayed in Waldorf schools to help brighten the space and they are also a symbol of the Waldorf philosophy of education, which focuses on engaging the head, heart, and hands of children. For extra sharp folds use a bone folder to crease the lines.
Fold a Square Piece of Paper
Start by folding a square piece of paper in half both ways. You can use origami paper or cut your own square from paper you have on hand.
Fold the Corners into the Center Point
Next, fold the corners in to meet the center point.
Keep Folding the Corners In
Keeping folding all four corners in to meet the center point.
Start Creatiing a Kite Shape
Turn the paper 45 degrees so that one of the points is facing down. Next, fold the left-hand corner in so that the long edge lines up with the line in the middle.
Fold in the Right-Hand Side
Fold in the right-hand side of the paper like you did with left-hand side. This is the final fold. You will want to make four white pieces and four red pieces
Assemble Star
Once you have you eight total folded pieces, you can assemble the star. Place the pieces on top of each other, lining up the bottom corners and the left-hand side of the top piece with the center line of the bottom piece. Glue the pieces together with craft glue. If desired, glue a piece of twine to the back point of one of the pieces for hanging.
