Dozens of residents have been evacuated from their homes

A major incident has been declared after a huge moorland fire has forced 34 properties to evacuate their homes in Greater Manchester. The blaze has been spreading across Saddleworth Moor since Sunday amid Britain's current hot weather and fire crews have been "working tirelessly" at the scene in the days since. On Thursday, a new moorland blaze on Winter Hill, near Bolton, broke out. Emergency services have warned that the fires could take weeks to put out.
