Already dreaming of your next getaway? There's three UK destinations British holidaymakers will be flocking to in 2019 for a staycation, according to a holiday rental website.
Cottages.com say they've seen a spike in bookings for a Scottish island, an East Midlands culinary gem and a traditional Cornish village as people plan ahead. Time to book your trip and start counting down the days...
1. The Isle of Arran
Scotland's Highlands and Islands were recently named as a must-visit in Lonely Planet's Best in Travel 2019. And for good reason – they're remote enough to feel like a world away from modern life, boast breathtaking scenery and wildlife and offer up equally mesmerising culinary adventures.
Cottages.com say Isle of Arran bookings are already outperforming the rest of the UK, but with only 100 holiday homes on the island you'll need to get in there quick!
2. Lincolnshire
Foodies will be flocking to the quintessentially English county in 2019 due to the number of restaurants featured in this year's Michelin Guide. Winteringham Fields near Scunthorpe is a must visit having been awarded a Michelin-star.
Cottages.com say Lincolnshire is also a haven for luxury travel, with 93% of its properties there holding Grade Four or Five Status.
3. St Ives
Cornwall saw an unprecedented number of tourists flock to its beaches and seaside villages during 2018's heatwave.
And that trend looks set to continue into 2019. British holidaymakers heading to the county are already booking up St Ives' colourful holiday lets, according to Cottages.com.
It's easy to see why: you can stroll through the cobbled streets and explore the independent shops of the picturesque village or should you be feeling more active, surf the waves of Porthmeor beach or walk along the coastal path towards Land’s End.
