The 'UK's largest shepherd's hut' boasts all the luxuries and comforts of a home away from home including bookshelves, wardrobes, a king-size bed, fully-kitted kitchen and a wood burning stove.

Measuring at 295 sq ft (28ft x 11ft), almost twice the size of a traditional shepherd's hut, the luxury unit – built by The English Shepherds Hut Company – maintains the traditional features of a tin roof and iron wheels, but step inside and it's a modern design lover's dream.

Enjoyed by guests at Top Farm near Aylsham (it can be booked as a relaxing couple's break in Norfolk), every detail of this hut was crafted in the workshop in Rackheath, near Norwich using locally sourced materials.

A fine example of small-space living, the luxury hut – which starts from £65,000 – is bright and roomy with pops of blue throughout. An L-shaped 3-seater sofa bed sits in the open plan living room, perfectly positioned with a view to the outdoors, while the wood burning stove creates a stylish focal point (while also keeping you warm, of course).

The bathroom has a 1200mm walk-in shower, WC and vanity stand made with reclaimed vintage oak, as well as a towel cupboard and upcycled copper jam pot sink. And with built-in wardrobes and bedside cabinets, the bedroom has a reclaimed oak headboard and stylish under lighting.

"We relish a challenge and so when we were asked to design and build a 28ft x 11ft Shepherds Hut for a local Glamping Site, we had to say yes," says founder Craig Nield, who is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the English Shepherds Hut Company this year. "We are always striving to innovate and push ourselves, and it’s a credit to the team’s precision craftsmanship that they managed to get the hut out of the workshop with just 1inch wiggle room each side of the doors!"

The English Shepherds Hut

A shepherd's hut is often used as glamping accommodation, but for homeowners able to afford one, it's an ideal extension of the home, used as garden offices, bedrooms and workshops etc. Back in 2017, former Prime Minister David Cameron bought a £25,000 shepherd hut for his Cotswolds home. The designer garden shed included a corner set wood-burning stove, a pull-out double sofa bed, double glazed windows and sheep's wool insulation.
