Through their hit HGTV show, Fixer Upper, as well as their books, viewers have gotten to know not only Chip and Joanna Gaines, but also their four oldest children, Drake (age 13), Ella Rose (age 11), Duke (age 10), and Emmie Kay (age 8). Still, there's so much we don't know about the heirs to the Magnolia empire, particularly new baby boy Crew Gaines, who was born after the series ended. Thankfully, the couple's Instagram feeds have given us an inside look at a few sweet family moments. Here's what we've learned from following along.
Up until recently, the Gaineses had two boys and two girls, in a boy-girl-boy-girl pattern. But they recently added another family member, a boy, bringing their family up to five children.
From the time they found out their mom was expecting, the big brothers- and sisters-to-be were ecstatic. "They were so excited, and I think that's what makes me the most excited—that they’re celebrating with us," Joanna told CountryLiving.com.
And from Joanna's Instagram photos, it's clear the siblings already have the sweetest relationship with their new baby brother.
The couple had a pattern of giving their sons Drake and Duke single-syllable names starting with the letter "D." Chip revealed he and Joanna were looking for another D-name for their new baby boy, but they ended up breaking with tradition and going with a "C" name instead.
Joanna may be a perfectionist with design, but her parenting style is a bit different. When it comes to her kids, she embraces all the moments (even the messy ones) as they come. And neither she nor Chip is afraid to get silly, whether with dance parties or dad jokes.
The kids are a major reason behind the show ending.
Chip and Jo have expressed that the desire to focus on family (as well as their businesses) is what motivated the hosts to step away from Fixer Upper after Season 5. We can certainly understand that!
Their parents might be pulling in major dough through their show and business ventures, but that hasn't changed the way Chip and Joanna are raising them. The Fixer Upper hosts describe themselves as strict parents, particularly when it comes to phones and TV—Joanna told People the Gaines kids won't get phones till they go to college.
The family famously does not have a television in the home. "So they don't really understand that we have a show," Joanna said to People. "They don't get it."
They even wrote Chip encouraging notes while he was training for the Magnolia Market marathon. "I got teary eyed this am when I saw this," the proud dad posted. "But at mile 5 it was the only thing I could think of." So sweet!
Not only have Chip and Jo revealed certain projects to their kids (The Bakery at the Silos, Magnolia Table), but their four little ones have also participated in a few reveals themselves. During the final season, the kiddos unveiled their aunt and uncle's new abode.

Even when not on the show, the kids are often just out of sight!
Even when not on camera, chances are, the little ones were on set and simply strategically out of the shot, as outtakes and Instagram posts have revealed. Joanna said in her book that part of the reason she and Chip will only film within a 40-mile radius of Waco is so that they're always close to home for their kids.
