Planning a birthday party for the Mickey Mouse lover in your life? The charming character has been a kid favorite since 1928, so you can pretty much always count on stores carrying Mickey-related party goods. But that also means the web is saturated with products, DIY ideas, and recipes devoted to the cartoon mouse, which can make it difficult to know where to begin and what you actually need to throw a memorable party. We're here to help simply things with ideas on everything from food to decorations to party favors.
Once you've figured out the when and where of your party, the next step is to choose a color palette. While you can certainly branch out, it'll be a lot easier to shop for party supplies if you stick to a classic combo of red, black, white, and yellow (or some combination of those colors), as we have here. Choose one area to be the focal point of your event and put your decorating efforts there. (The biggest mistake you can make is trying to decorate every square inch of your party!) We rounded up a mix of high-impact items like oversized balloons, banners, and paper pom-poms that'll help get the job done. Incorporate foods and party favors that can double as decor, like wearable mouse ears or Mickey-shaped sandwiches and desserts, and you're good to go.

Mickey Mouse Cupcakes
Love The Day
All you need are simple chocolate melts to transform plain cupcakes. Just stick them on either side of the cupcake to make a pair of ears.
For something a little different, stick to a simple color palette of black and white. Not only is it chic, but you'll have an easier time finding party supplies. And don't be afraid to branch out and experiment with unexpected patterns. We love how Lindsey of Life Lutzurious incorporated a black-and-white grid pattern into her Mickey decor.

DIY Mickey Centerpieces
Beautiful Eats & Things
How cute would it be to have these lining a table at your party? Andy of Beautiful Eats & Things crafted these sweet centerpieces out of foam balls, wooden skewers, and cans. Remember to use acrylic paint when working with craft foam, she advises, as spray paint will cause foam to melt.
These cookies by Amy of As The Bunny Hops were inspired by the churros served at Disney World. For a shortcut, use refrigerated pie dough instead of making your own.
Brighten up your cake with a fun topper, like this handmade option from Etsy shop BHWDesigns. It's made from low-shed glitter cardstock so you don't have to worry about making a mess.
A pull-string piñata is always a good idea at a kid's party. Since it won't get bashed to bits, you can hang it in your child's room after the party's over as a reminder of his or her big day.
