Is there a more classic Halloween costume than a witch? We think not! That means if you've completely dropped the ball on Halloween this year and you're looking for a last-minute getup for yourself or the kids, you can't go wrong with a DIY witch costume. Below, you'll find our favorite ideas for a homemade look that you can pull together in a snap. And even though they are easy to create, these costumes are totally cute and unique, so your mini-me still have a chance to win the Best Costume Award at this year's party.
Most of what you'll see here is for the younger crowd (babies, toddlers, young children), but they could just as easily translate to DIY Halloween costumes for adults if you're looking to hop on a broomstick of your own. Or, you can peek at what we thought would make a great grownup look because of its pop culture reference (think: one of the Sanderson Sisters or the Scarlet Witch).
So now, all that's left to do is cast your spell and transform yourself or the little one in your life into a magical sorceress.
Throw on a pair of Ugg boots, grab a venti Starbucks drink, and you’ve got yourself a Halloween costume.

Prudence Blackwood
Diyah Pera/Netflix
To recreate Prudence's look from Netflix's the Chilling Adventures ofSabrina, you can just pair your favorite black or purple dress with a lace collar and cuffs that can be easily sewn on.
Start a country coven! Gussied up in black-and-white gingham, these sweet witches are ready to cast some serious spells on Halloween night.
Make the Costumes: Cut two 31- by 20-inch rectangles from black-and-white gingham fabric. Sew ends together, leaving armholes toward the top of the rectangle. Fold in the top 1 inch of the fabric and sew a channel, leaving a 1-inch opening. Thread a ribbon or string through the channel. Once on, pull the ribbon to gather it at the top. Cut a 3 1/2- by 36-inch strip from black eyelet fabric. Sew a hand-running stitch along the edge of one of the long sides. Leave a knot at one end and pull the string on the other side to create gathers. Pin at the back of the costume or add a snap. Finish with witches hats.
Want to get more than one use out of your child's Halloween costume? Layer a tulle skirt under a simple black T-shirt dress for a little drama. After the 31st, lose the skirt and pair the dress with a denim jacket and sneakers for an everyday look.
Possibly the most iconic witches of all, you can dress as just one of the Sanderson Sisters, or create the perfect trio costume. A velvet cape is the best accessory for whichever way you go.
With little-to-no sewing involved, you can put this costume together in an afternoon. Use a black leotard as the base and craft a black-and-green (or any color combination you want!) skirt out of tulle.
WandaVision was one of Disney+'s biggest series this year, so we had to add Wanda a.k.a the Scarlet Witch to this list. Grab your favorite red dress and buy or DIY her headpiece.
On the flip side, you can dress as Agatha, one of the most powerful witches in the Marvel universe, and also the one who gave Wanda a pretty hard time...
