ImPulsTanz
In the summer of 2026, the city will once again be filled with the excitement of dance, as Vienna becomes the European hub of contemporary dance. ImPulsTanz brings together international stars, influential choreographers, and exciting newcomers – from world premieres and Austrian premieres to celebrated productions.
That means summer in Vienna is all about movement, artistic diversity, and international exchange. Big names meet new voices, opulent stage sets meet minimalist physicality – and the audience is right in the middle of it all, not just watching from the sidelines.

Dance tips away from ImPulsTanz
In Tanzquartier Wien, contemporary dance and performance are at home, and dance events of every kind are listed on the event calendar. Vienna has a historical connection with “its” Viennese waltz, which visitors to the city can learn in classical dance schools – as preparation for attending a Viennese ball.
